CASH BOOST FOR GLENROTHES CHARITY AIMING TO MAKE ELDERLY PEOPLE FEEL LESS ISOLATED

Staff at a Glenrothes charity that aims to make elderly people less isolated in the community are celebrating after receiving thousands of pounds to support a new project.
Fife Shopping and Support Services has been handed £3000 by the Bank of Scotland Community Fund to introduce a companion scheme where volunteers will visit elderly people and disabled adults in and around Fife.

Four good causes were nominated by bank staff in each community, with customers and the public asked to vote for the groups they would most like to support.

The Glenrothes charity was up against the Lee O’Brien Solvent Trust, Friends of Craigtoun and Howe of Fife Rugby Club, with the Friends of Craigtoun also receiving £3000, while the others received £300 for their work in the community.

Lynne Ogilvie, director and service manager, said she was humbled by the award.
“It’s absolutely fantastic. We’ve been wanting to do this for a while we just needed funds to introduce it,” she said. “

We cant thank The Bank Of Scotland enough for the award and of course to all the people who voted for us !!
